I also like the idea of being able to flow to American at some point in the future. My understanding of the training here is that it is top notch, which is important to me, and I am looking forward to a flying position where safety isn't just a slogan (although I can only assume Horizon does well there too). Finally, I'm not opposed to moving to Texas in the future if I can get based there but we just can't do it quite yet.
I'm excited about the transition -and- a little nervous about the long commute. Any help would be much appreciated. I'll be talking to a couple of my friends at FEDEX and try and get dialed in on their schedules...maybe that will help.
Yeah horizon just reached a deal for bounuses and new pay. Also, they are getting E175's. I know you may think that coming to envoy may the right move but commuting from Alaska, you and your family won't last a year. It's hard enough on families just to commute to ORD or LGA from DFW. If you are single with no friends or family, I'd say go for it. If your not, I would definitely consider Horizon for 2 years then come to envoy when you move to Texas. I know the training for fixed wing is a big part of it as well so I understand where you are coming from, but it's not worth losing your family over. It would be like you being on deployment for 2 years for the most part. Envoy scheduling will have no sympathy for you and your family.
