There is a grievance...I believe its 15-12. I'm not sure of the status. I'm looked at the grievance page but didn't see any decisions yet.
For those locked back in their seats without a training date, its got to be frustrating. Hopefully there will be some checks coming your way. FWIW, I got passover for the HKG domicile with FEPP. I didn't get it right away, but when it did start it was retroactive to the effective date. Hope we see similar results for all 757 folks waiting for upgrade training. If that does come through, it is going to be a lot of money that is due.
My understanding is that is why the 5% on the signing bonus is still in flux. Its going to change the math a bit when that does get settled. Probably a good question for a hub turn meeting or someone to ask CW (grievance chair).
I'm not here to defend the company or ALPA with this statement, just pointing out that there are times the company can sort of do what they want. Moving flights from one bidpack to the other (ANC/LAX/MEM) etc and sliding training around is still in their span of control. There are a lot of reasons not to upgrade at 100% at this company, and certainly understand wanting to be able to control your schedule, not have to bid reserve or VTO, etc. etc. At the same time, the music stops here with enough frequency that I think if you want to move somewhere, you might want to consider going at your first shot. Part of the reason I chose to go to Hong Kong as a very junior captain was I knew the 767 was the growing fleet here, and after being on 2 shrinking fleets (MD-11 and 727) Your upgrade might be delayed a year or two, and that can be a lot of lost money. I thought I'd have more options diving on the first training I could get and THEN worrying about bidding back to MEM, IND, or whatever if we decided to move. If you wait around sometimes here the company changes their mind enough to create havoc (cnx Paris bid, excess bids, moving 757 dates out a YEAR...) It seems generally if there is money due to the affected pilot they eventually do get it, but its a long, delayed, frustrating process. I hope this gets fixed, and I understand the value of seniority. With the new bid process which will (eventually?) take place pilots can exert a bit more control, but the company will again be able to set the dates as they see fit...we'll just get to bid on which date we want. I don't think you will ever have the ability to "force" the company to train you before they want more pilots in that respective seat, or if they want to preserve their supply of pilots in the seat you currently hold. Forcing them to pay you, however, with the slot denial pay should make that an uncommon event.
However, if we are just venting around the fire, I will say getting "inversed" to a secondary line is a pain I could do without. Got nailed in April, and prolly gonna happen a bit more over the summer based our manning.
