Truth be told the VA isn't the only challenge of this program. Coast has been largely unprepared for the influx of students. Understaffed on instructors, maintenance unable to support the hours flown, ... Anyone should consider long and hard before joining the RTP program, certainly if paying for anything out of pocket. Consider what your local FBO could do for you and compare that with the personalized schedule that Coast has prepared for you. Seeing the schedule they have for you may be enough to convince you to do the majority of your training outside the program. Sitting around waiting is to painful enough. Doing it while not getting paid and losing seniority is a punch in the gut.
