i) Would Atlas be a good airline long term? or is it considered to be a stepping stone to the majors/legacy carriers? My goal is to get to a major/legacy carrier.
ii) Is JFK a base for the 747? If so how junior is it?
iii) What is the schedule like on the 767 compared to the 747?
iv) The first year grantee after OE is 50 hours or 62 hours? APC page isn't clear about that.
v) First year pay seems to be at par with some of the regional airline, how does the second year pay works out for most of the guys?
vi) Does the pilot group being sued by the company affect the contract negotiation? Any chance of getting a contract in the next year or two?
vii) Would you say Kalitta is a better cargo outfit than Atlas? It is subjective but just to get an idea.
i) Not unless we get a new CBA on par with other major carriers. It can be a stepping stone depending on your background. why are you not getting interest from the majors? Do you need PIC? Would Atlas make that much of a difference on your resume, since you already have 747 time?
ii) yes, only 32 FOs (that base has shrunk over the years), junior guy has been here a little over 1.5 years, it's also the senior 767 base.
iii) it's very different. perhaps you should investigate this more.
iv) min guarantee is 50 first year, 62 thereafter.
v) take the hourly pay, multiply by 72, then by 12. That's a decent WAG for what you'll make 2nd year and beyond. I've been here 5+ years and have not broken $100k yet. That would be easier to do if you get the 747.
vi) in what way would it help? yes, there's a chance. I also have a chance at winning the lottery if i buy a ticket.
vii) before their new deal? No. Now? Probably. I don't keep tabs on the fine details, but their pay rates are certainly better. Dig into their work rules and decide.
