I had a super scab once invite Frank Lorenzo up to the flight deck while at the gate in NYC. I got up and left the flight deck. Took a walk around the terminal. Jet took off 20 minutes late. I guess I got lost or something.

That scab told me two things: 1. Frank gave him his career. 2. He saved the airline.

My response: 1. No one gave me anything, I earned it. Shame on you for wanting and accepting a hand out. 2. instead of worrying about saving airline X, and being proud of it, how about saving and protecting the profession.

It got pretty quiet after that. it took him about 2 hours to open his mouth and try and throw in a comeback or a zinger. I slammed him again. I just told him to shut up and read his own checklist to himself and work his own damn radios. I was on a work slow down. After that I told him lets go walk down to the chief pilots office if he wanted to discuss the merits of inviting Frank Lorenzo up to the flight deck for a visit. Gee, lets give him some plastic wings and a trading card or something.

No respect for the profession, or his co-pilot. it may be his damn jet, but its my office too.
