How does reserve work in regards to getting the call?

Meaning.....

If in a reserve block they call you, can it be a consecutive day trip, or covering legs during that reserve block of 12 hrs?

Im thinking if u are assigned x number of "reserve blocks" and they can use you for consecutive day trips by calling u during reserve 12 he block, time away from home could spiral out of control.
