The problem with overnights is that it adds an whole new element of company control over our lives. In addition to the types and location of hotels we'll be more available for reassignments and other schedule changes.
I continuously see decisions and processes that make it seem as if every day is the first day in business at Allegiant. Without overnights, our exposure to the company's "cheap at all costs" way of doing business is far more limited than it would be if they had us under their thumb in a hotel room on an overnight...and that is one of the reasons that I really like it here.
I shudder to think what types "plans" crew members might find themselves subjected to if, just for example, there was a need for crew member at an outstation airport within driving distance of one's expected overnight. Imagine arriving at your expected overnight only to find a rental car reservation and driving directions...the possibilities at this company with a CBA jam-packed full of contractual "slights of hand" are endless.
I realize that opinions will vary widely, but I'm certainly of the opinion that we shouldn't be wishing for overnights. Right now, we have the best quality of life in the business; we don't want to screw that up.
