I wholeheartedly agree with all of the above. One thing that worked for me that was not mentioned was to send a cover letter out every 2 months or so. My 3 top choices were FDX, UPS, and SWA. They all had online apps so I did not bother sending a cover letter with them. I sent my resume as an attachment to a cover letter via email to the hirining folks at Gemini, Atlas, World, and Kalitta about every 6 weeks for the 12 months prior to getting out. I managed to get hired at SWA and UPS and had a class date at UPS while on terminal leave. During the first week at UPS I got calls to interview at Gemini, Atlas, and Airtran. I ended up not needing those interviews but I would have been so grateful for them had I not already found a job. FWIW.
