When someone outside the industry asks- who do you fly for? I answer American. If they appear to have some level of intelligence... Envoy. I don't think most people don't care enough to know the difference.
If someone doesn't know who envoy is why not just tell them you work for a subsidiary of American. That's a whole lot more honest.
