Even insurance settlements where the insured client was clearly at fault, typically takes months or years. It is standard practice to give sufficient time for investigation and discourages ambulance chasers... according to my attorney friends.

Appparently, the "slip and fall" class of the traveling public recognizes it, hence the recent challenges to crew authority.
