Maybe I'm optimistic but I don't see the doom and gloom on ORD as others. Last bid had some movement in from what was slated to be 1 opening. Movement and upgrades to other bases will happen. Thus FO movement will happen. Maybe I'm off but I think the 1 year range for all our bases is realistic going forward. The change to that would be if we get smart and close the 767 or 777 base as much if it's DHDs from ORD to do flying. They do that all bets are off.
Also ORD still has good amounts of AB and MD80 traffic in and out with no crew bases there. Again maybe I'm crazy but the AB flying in with no possible replacement crews for IROPs is silly. I don't see that continuing. So either a dwindle down of AB flying in and out or a base I'd bet. LAA FAs already do AB trips out of ORD it'd only be pilots needed and it seems silly we haven't opened up a small base yet.
I just don't see the gloom. Guys could have already been into ORD on the 767 for many on property. I don't think there's as many waiting as some imply. Many said the same about DFW and CLT and guess what.... New hires are almost able to get to either within months. As this shuffle finally evens out I think all bases will be had within a year on property....
