2) see above. I'm an executive that's an accomplished GA/corporate/airshow pilot who's been dreaming of going to the airlines for YEARS, but just couldn't quite make it work. The money is good enough, Air Wisconsin has an amazing reputation as far as benefits, training, and culture, and it jumped to the top of my list as a result. It's also a place where people can actually be happy past 3-4 years (a friend of mine has been there 19 with no regrets). I grew up in the industry (Southwest was my father's 6th airline) and I know that as good as it is now, we're one catastrophe away from a hiring freeze.

The 4+ year upgrade gets shorter with additional hiring. Air Wisconsin wasn't on my map until the new bonuses, and most of the people I interviewed with were the same way. You can't hire an airline pilot overnight (or even in a two weeks) due to the requirements for background checks etc. I'm optimistic. It's also a place I look forward to working at, rather than somewhere I'm putting up with for a fast upgrade time. I'm betting there are a lot of other pilots out there with the same attitude.
That's what I told myself when I got hired before I left for another regional. Just make sure to call all your friends to come over too if you want movement. You can even split the bonus.
