Bad news is reserve is 15-16 days per month and it's almost impossible to lower that. There's no way to drop flying at SWA, and nobody is going to pick up your reserve block. However, it does get better once you can hold a line.

I'd agree with you if you are talking about a timeline of the next 10-15 years. Right now it takes ten years just to hold bottom FO in Atlanta, and there are many AT pilots commuting to MDW, BWI, and HOU. Seniority at bases does change over time, Dallas going from senior to junior is an example of that, but Atlanta is going to stay senior for quite awhile and reasonable advice to a new hire who lives there would be to move or polish their Delta app.
