9E here. Bonuses are currently being renegotiated. Union is attempting to put them straight into hourly pay (~$25.5/hr increase across the board). Company is fighting back on that but we are working toward something betting along with vacation/sick accrual, 401k, and other things to improve QoL. In the end the bonus will still be around long after 2018 in one form or another.
Also ATL is very junior on the FO side at the moment. There are guys fresh out of ground school who got ATL on the latest vacancy notice.
Until there is vote for pay there is no guarantee retention continues or gets converted to rates. Highly likely but until the deal is inked you never know.
As far as ATL and new FOs, your statement is false. I know several people hired in Feb that are stuck in NY that can't hold ATL. ATL is junior on FO side but new hires still need to plan on spending some time in a NY crash pad because hotels are to expensive there.
