Okay, reluctantly I'll play along in this drift..

A good friend took a megaer retirement as a machinist at 55, and went to work in the public school system as a maintenance foreman at a junior college, fixing toilets, air conditioners etc. for 10 years. Pay was meager, but he did it for the bennies.

Kids got free tuition (pretty big deal), school systems retirement (not so big), and lifetime free healthcare and prescriptions for him and his wife.

That's HUGE!

So there is not consistency. Just like some of my friends who started flying when I did, never made it to the majors (should have IMO), whose lifetime earnings will be millions less than mine.

There is definitely randomness of success in every employment field.

Having travelled a lot in the third world, we can all be grateful in this country for what we have - meager as it may seem sometimes.
