Police and firemen risk their lives for others. There is no meritocracy in the teaching world and it is almost impossible to fire one even in the midst of incompetence. The teachers union is as corrupt as any and their pensions ARE funded by taxpayers.
The good ones are underpaid, but there is too much protection for the dead weight and we have dumped billions into the education system with little to show for it.
As far as blaming the poor for anything, wtf are you talking about. The greedy rich are to blame...No?
