The point I was making is that Delta is leading the pack when it comes to financial performance. They are not perfect and there is room for improvement but pointing out that United does something might not be proof positive that it's a good idea. I have no idea what method is more lucrative.
The combined category is way more lucrative. They could do away with almost all the reserve pilots in the 765 category. Not sure how many that is, but it wouldn't be insignificant. Delta would love to have it one category, but to do so would require us to bring the ER rates up the the 765 rates which they won't do.
