No money for nothing? Have you ever been in airport standby? Spending the day sitting around the crew room/airport is not fun.

They could send the standby to your flight, which might be late for a couple of minutes only to be on time. Making you spend the night in base, while the standby guy is enjoying your favorite layover.

The SC guy/gal will be assigned airport standby to cover the pilot who just got your layover.

That's the way regional operates and reserve guys get abused. I've been here only 6 months and this reserve system is fair, non stressful and 95% of the time I can commute my last day home.

Let's not try to fix what is not broken for a couple of bucks. There are more important things to negotiate.
