Or they used the bathroom of the gender they identified with, and there were no issues.
The people that weren't one gender or the other, of course, used a bathroom that was not designed "for them", and there were no issues.
Different but related; but at least for the past few decades the races were moving together and racial harmony was pretty common. Now, in the past 5-6 years the races have grown to hate each other. The only thing I can think of is social media/Facebook/fake news. People have easier access to material designed to rile people up..that and any idiot with a Facebook account can post "news." Will this be the new norm? Time will tell.

same as Abortion:
Today, in the US, there are the least number of abortions that there have ever been, but the fight over abortion is the strongest it has ever been.
I have read studies that show racist people, when presented with more information on racial mixing/harmony, become more racist. That explains our current race situation in the US.
The 0.1%, starting with Bacon's Rebellion, which I feel is THE most important event in US history, have driven a wedge between white and black, to help them manage their control over all the money.
Before Bacon's Rebellion, black and white were free to marry, and slaves brought over from Africa could obtain their freedom simply through converting to Christianity and being baptized.
