The reality is that 1st year pay is about $28k to $33k.
I made a lot less than that. I dropped every single trip I could and basically took the first year off. I was lucky I was able to do that, but I didn't feel like it was worth my time (or the chance of getting fired on probation) to go in for $38 an hour.
Take the year off, get another job at Home Depot, bartend, or something else and enjoy your life.
