The whale is staffed about 23 pilots/airframe. Vacancy 16-103 added 40 CA/17 FO to 74Y ANC, and after the bid closed there were a total of 29 74Y FO vacancies available to newhires.
Also, per Contract 2016 IPA pilots will start flying CGN-IST-TLV no later than 17-06 and SNN-DUB-CGN no later than 18-06.
Above-plan volume is also driving additional block hours from existing airframes, which of course requires staffing unless you like getting a half-dozen JA calls every day off.
