I don't know why you guys are obsessing over the first year pay at ATI- I thought pilots making more was a good thing? What happened was some first year pay rates were inadvertently omitted for some reason (probably clerical error) when the pay rates of the 2011 CBA were incorporated into the 2013 JCBA. At that time furloughs and downgrades were the order of the day and I doubt anyone could imagine ATI ever hiring again.
The following first year pay rates were omitted:
DC-8 FO
DC-8 FE
757/767 CA
757/767 FO
757/767 IRO
The following first year pay rates were included:
DC-8 CA
727 CA
727 FO
727 PFE
Was this some scheme on behalf of the union and the company to pay new hires more?! No! The company tried to negotiate it down when they actually had to start hiring. Should the union have fought for lower pay for new hires?
