If a regional owns the airframe, then should it come off contract for one company it will start flying for another. An idle asset does not generate revenue- these folks are running a business, not a charity.
Yes comparing QOL between regionals can sometimes be like comparing which feces smells better, but it was a valid point to suggest the advantage of having your company's name on the registration certificate. I'm pretty sure most people have that goal....get the name in big letters on the side of the aircraft to match the name on the paycheck.
I'm not as dense as you assume. I understand what you're saying, but that doesn't assure that all their airframes will be flying just because their name is on the registration.
And yes a couple SKW airplanes have their name painted on the side, but that sure isn't my goal. The passengers aren't buying a ticket from skywest. (I do know what you meant by that, and yes mainline is my goal as well).
