Couldn't have said it better myself. I too have been trying to get a job at Alaska since 2007 and finally I get it. I don't expect Alaska to be perfect and there are far more airlines that pay better. I'm not in it for the money. Coming to Alaska during this time of low moral and high tensions due to the contract talks (and other things) is really tough as I'm getting bombarded with negativity from this forum. I have a few friends and family members who work at Alaska and they're not near as negative as this forum is. I'm starting class soon and I'm dedicated and committed. I wish everyone luck and here's to a better future.
If your not in it for the money than you won't be disappointed, in fact I would stop reading any forums and just enjoy whatever the arbitrator/company gives you.
To rant, just because you landed at Alaska doesn't mean you can't still look and examine your options. Everyone has a host of consideration to consider when deciding is staying put is woth the risk at taking another opportunity.
But really if you'd absolutely never consider leaving no matter what, then I'd stay off the forums.
