Commuting will suck no matter where you're at, unless you live in a location that has tons of flights going to and from your base. Commuter clauses are great, but really aren't "that" effective, given my buddy at chautauqua who's always trying to get to Cleavland, while there are sometimes 5 flights a day, most are on RJ's ,and most are oversold, so he's left with the flight the night before, or early the next morning, so he can do reserve far in advance....you'd have the same luck with a company without a commuter clause, just because the number of people flying is so high...
TSA's low points would typically be job security (tossing stuff to gojet), second year FO pay, Training difficulty, Scheduling (while on reserve) and Junior Manning (which sucks, but you can only have it done three time a year...i think)
If i were in the "new" guys shoes, i'd look for somewhere that wouldn't involve me commuting to work, if there are no options available, you'll be far happier finding a buddy in training and grabbing an apartment, as opposed to giving up your days off to commute to a company that you really wouldn't want to work for anyway.
