Northeast has insane cost of living and SJU has a lot of expense you don't think about. For example because you are clearing customs after every flight you can't bring your own food for the day. So you have to buy food at the airports, which really adds up.
Currently based in the Caribbean for a cargo outfit. And so far I've had a completely different experience as far as QOL. It's cheaper to live here than any other base in my company. And with food I found that you can bring food with you as long as you make sure to eat all of it before you come back to SJU. Caribbean is pretty nice tbh, I just wish I spoke spanish
