That someone in your LAX-MEM scenario, with a DH ticket no less and nothing riding on getting to MEM (like making a trip) would NEVER, EVER even think about bumping a commuter (even an offline guy) who is trying to get to work. That's just basic jumpseat 101.

We haven't seen how the new automated system will work yet, but how would we know if or who we were bumping? Even with the current system, if I book Standby and wind up getting Reserved, I don't have any idea what went on behind the scenes to effect that change. I may not know that one of the Reserved was Staging and that the Jumpseat Admin employee sent a "So Sorry" e-mail to a Stager.

How would you know?
