As others have said, IWA is one of our most senior bases. Lots of pilots waiting to get in there, and hanging out in LAX and on VBD. AB starting to move into LAS but very senior for now. 80 is junior there but no guarantees on equipment for new hires.
Commuting to LAS by air wouldn't be too hard, with lots of flights between PHX and LAS. About a 40 min flight. AAY flies IWA-LAS several times a week too. I have driven that trip many times and Its no picnic! And it's more like 5 hours. Commuting PHX-LAX is a nightmare. Lots and lots of competition!
The flying in IWA is pretty good. Some long flights but also some short runs. Good weather most of the year. Reserves don't get used most of the year. Summer gets bad though. This base has little movement since so many people actually live there, so when you finally get it, expect to sit reserve quite a while. An announcement came out a couple of months ago that IWA is going to see growth. Most of the crews are very cool and laid back. It's a good base overall if you must live in Phoenix.
