Everybody blasts commuting at this job. It does take a great job and turn it into somewhere between an average job and a really sucky job. You have to look at which commute you are looking at. PHX to LAX or LAS is about as easy a commute as you will have. Going the other way, however sucks because we are not at PHX, we are at IWA. Commuting to many of the FL bases are even worse because of the satellite airport issue.
I have been commuting PHX to LAX since February. However, Allegiant allows you to pick up Open Time out of base, so I do a large percentage of my flying out of IWA even without being based here. Send me a PM if you want more info.
To me, the 18-24 months it will take me to get to IWA is worth it to get to home every night after that.
