I don't normally agree with you, but I think you hit the nail on the head here. I think KS was a lot of help being a buffer and liberally used side LOAs and MOUs to improve the contract without upper management approval. He may have even caught grief doing so. However, not even Jesus Christ himself could get big ticket items past DR and FO without them black balling negotiations. I think they loosened the leash considerably trying to cover flying.
