You'll need an apartment, 2000$ plus for decent, and a car. Utilities are expensive as well as food so figure 3000$ a month to live. Great thread on the Hawaiian Airlines board.
you can find a place for less than that, but depends on what you need. family with kids, well you need a bigger place than a single guy. But rule of thumb, you will get a smaller older place than you would get for the same money on the mainland. But then again,

If they are offering 60K, you could definitely live on that in HI. but depends on what you want. if you need a 3 br/2b house , you would need a wife that has a job too. If you are single, I have seen lots of decent townhouses for less than $2000/month.
Utilities are not bad considering there is no winter. Unless you have to run A/C all day. If you can't live without A/C all year, then you shouldn't live here unless you want to pay a big electric bill. My first apt, we had a small A/C in the bedroom and only ran it when we slept and in the summer. That also depends on where you live. On the windward side you get nice tradewinds and don't need it most of the time.
Bottom line if you want to fly and live in Hawaii, the opportunity is better now than it has ever been. Ohana and Island Air are offering way more than they did a few years ago.
For car, you can ship your car for $1000 from LA.
Food, shop at Costco and prices are basically like the West coast.
gas, is actually cheaper than CA. My car insurance went down from CA.
what is ironic, Ohana is paying FOs double what Hawaiian first year pay is. Living on Hawaiian first yr pay will be a challenge. $36/hr!!
but they have no shortage of people applying.

traffic and noise?? are you planning to live in Waikiki?most pilots I know live on the windward side. easy drive to the airport with no traffic. windward side is very laid back, no noisy city life. If you were planning to live in Honolulu area, I would have to say, why?

Funny enough that you can make a lot more flying a turboprop than flying a 737 for TA. I've read all about TA in Hawaii and it's pretty much true.
