as NJA goes through its "fleet optimization" plan; less planes = less crews needed. Until you start seeing plane for plane replacement (not happening), crews are becoming dispensable.
When the furlough comes, you are going to see year 10, 12 guys out on the street. They'll be called DFs for "Double Furlough" but secretly we will think of them as "Dumb Fuc&$"
This is why they aren't hiring. Nobody is retiring, and they are letting attrition cover their need to lose crews due to shrinkage. The pony and balloon champ chooses to ignore what is going on right in front of him, and what the DO has said out loud, from his mouth lol. The total fleet size is shrinking, and there is no expansion. It is 2017, the economy is booming, and they haven't hired a single pilot, and don't plan to for the rest of the year. To be a 12 year FO, and in real danger of being on the chopping block if NetJets decides to furlough, is really crappy. I know they are "righting the ship" but that doesn't mean for one second that the pilot group is safe.
VSP, attrition, and no hiring = shrinkage.
