Just finished my third year at Southwest after seven years at Netjets.
I work hard in the summer but can pretty much control my schedule and build ten+ day blocks of time if I want. June I was paid for 186 trips while blocking 95 hours. Fourth year pay is 119.64 per trip. Thats $22,253 in pay plus another 25% in retirement pay. July was 160 trips. I expect August to be about the same as June. Just heard a high time Captain was paid for over 400 trips last month and bank $100k plus 25% for retirement in one month! He is the exception to the rule but being paid for 180-200 trips a month is not hard to do if you dont mind working and understand the contract. Come Sept and Oct I will dial back the flying. I worked 16 days in July and 17 in June just for reference. I miss catered food and the varied places we would go at Netjets. I also miss the points.
