But myself and many other old school surfers don't go down to baja anymore...the violence is real, and kidnapping is in fact a sideline for the narcos. That's not racism, just common sense despite what political correctness might dictate. It may be starting to get better, but I'm going to give it some time. Mexico city is OK though if you avoid the bad parts.
You just aren't in the right seat anymore. I don't agree with a lot of things my captains say but to preserve the peace, I rarely speak up to say what they say is simply not true. Unless the guy just absolutely insists on getting my perspective, I never bring up my political leanings. To those that are aggressive enough to insist I play along, they are SHOCKED that I don't toot the Trumpone or that I am fully supportive of gay rights or, in general, lean far left of most pilots (not really that far left)

I'm sure this is the same game most FOs have played for years when they sense their politics differ from their crew partner. If you don't talk about minorities derogatorily, you more than likely have given that away somehow and the FO you're flying with has just toed the line.

It also helps where you live. These attitudes prevail mostly from people east of the Rockies and from those living in the South or small towns.
