I'll admit that with most airlines hiring, ATI is not for everyone. I flew with ABX and ATI for twenty years and it's not surprising to anyone that management is suspect at best and has perfected the shell game to keep pay low. I don't see this ending anytime soon. Saying that, as a retired military pilot with retirement in hand with medical and dental, I would recommend ATI if you are in a similar situation as me, you like flying very little and like having long layovers in fairly nice locations especially overseas. And, it sounds like upgrades are will be increasing. I never tell people to avoid a flying job. I just point to areas that may not be for them. Plus, all in all the guys I flew with are pretty good dudes both in ATI and ABX. Hope this helps with the negativity I feel you guys seem to have.
Thinking of putting in a app. My airline is about to shut down. Notice home-based. What exactly is home based mean? Do they buy you a ticket from a main airport to get you to your first leg of operation.? As far as the pay whats it really like? What is your schedule look like what are the trip pairings consist of? How many days away from my home will I expect? I too am in a situation where I don't need to fly a lot and I do like long layover so that in itself sounds intriguing.
