Give the guy a break. Did you not notice the part where his airline was going to shut down? I am guessing he is what used to be ASA. He probably has a family that he doesn't want to uproot from ATL and home basing looks pretty good. I've been there. Have you ever been unemployed with a family and only the worthless skills of a pilot trying to find a non aviation job? Your hard earned hours and type ratings don't mean squat to the HR departments at the local companies. You take what you can get and then try to move on to someplace better. I know guys that have walked out of classes at one crappy airline to another slightly less crappy airline after only one or two days of employment. Is ATI a crap job? Maybe, but it is a JOB. It is easy to talk about not bringing down the profession when you have a job. It is a whole different ball game when you're looking at a pile of bills while unemployed. It is also a lot easier to find another job when you have one and are current and qualified than when you have been out of the cockpit for a while. Ask any of the guys that were out of work around 2008. I sympathize with the ATI pilots. At K4 we also needed people to stop coming to class to put pressure on our management to sign a new collective bargaining agreement. I would encourage anyone with a job now to avoid the place like the plague. But, to bust on a guy losing a job who is considering going there just seems like piling on to me.
