Here we are approaching a decade since Hurricane Ike and we (as a Nation) continue to gamble that Houston doesn't take the long feared dierect hit. Yet we are talking about a city that is vital to the US economy and national security for that matter. Even as we speak, the dams around Houston struggle to do what they were never designed for. As bad as it is right now, it has the potential to be much, much worse:
