Supposedly DL wanted those 6 170s moved further east and CZ said they could not support that (little) amount of flying that far away from the majority of thier other flying (LAX and SEA/ limited ways to bridge aircraft and crews between the potential east system and the existing west system), so DL decided to pull the aircraft and move them to a different carrier (Republic). The Jets moved further east, but I don't know what has happened to the cz MSP/DTW routes- who the routes have gone to and how they have been upguaged/downgaged.
I think the only thing Compass does out of DTW now is SDF to get their planes to that maintenance base. Most of their DTW flying is now done by either SkyWest or GoJet (along with most of the Endeavor flying that used to be there) MSP is seeing an increase in MD88 flying that is being pulled out of New York. New York will see upscaling with the arrival of the C Series. Former E175/CR9 routes will be replaced while those planes replace CRJ 2/7 flying as those smaller planes are moved off the coastal hubs. Delta is all about the coasts and is basically considering the middle of the country "fly over country"
