While on this topic another thing to consider is medication. There have been times where I was sick, but felt like I could probably fly, but I was taking a prescription med that had a 48 hour trial before I could sit in a cockpit again. The problem is company wants the pilots to be responsible for sick calls like any other average person. Your sick, you miss work, you get marked. Simple.

But we all know it's not so simple. It's another example of how this corporation views us. We are never an asset. Always a liability. "You miss work, we have to pay you. We don't like that." Hence the idea of using FMLA for sick. If you use FMLA for a sinus infection, you will not get a dime! Exactly what Trinitydawn says, our sick time is contractually negotiated benefit for us to use. Now the company is saying we can't use it. If you do, you get reprimanded.
