Most of the guys that I have flown with that came from a union carrier want nothing more to do with a union. Most of the most vocal union supporters I have seen are those who, you might say, have other issues and I'll just leave it at that.

I agree with you. But the other guy has a point. The main thing is. There is not a "severe" enough gap between us and the union airlines...
I know it's true but it's too bad so many pilots look at a union only as a means to close that gap in the next negotiating round.
