As for 6 on 5 off. Once you are senior enough you can get whatever days off you want on reserve. For me that took 3.5 years based at CLT. The problem is you only get 12 or 13 days off. So you could do 6 on 5 off 6 on 5 off and then you'd have only 2 more days off to play with, so maybe 6 more on 2 off and start over.

Depending on where you are based and what you fly you probably won't get used on every day on call. I worked 12 days in June, 15 in July, and 8 in August for example, YMMV...
