More often than not, there is sufficient space in the overhead bins/closet, and the FAs are more than accomodating. Today was a great example of where neither the gate agents nor the FAs were interested in any of the many pilots commuting on my flight asking them to not check our bags. Instead, the ramper quite literally took them from our hands as the gate agent yelled behind us in the jet bridge "90 seconds to close!"
Have other folks experienced this? It makes either a close commute to work even more stressful or making that second flight of a two-leg commute impossible, in some cases. What say you?
Sounds like there was no time. If there's time and the gate agent refuses, I just ask for a red coat. Delta only though. Makes it tough if you're out of uniform
