As a general rule, once you have fulfilled your Active Duty Service Commitment, you are eligible to apply for voluntary separation. Your application is accomplished on an AF Form 780, Officer Separation Actions. You can submit your application no earlier than 12 months, but no later than six months before your requested separation date.
