Everyones all happy about instant lines when they get hired. But think about it. If you are getting a line right out of training that means your airline isn't properly staffed. It's short pilots, plain and simple.
Results of undertstaffing:
-Less days off.
-Less say in your schedule.
-Inability to manipulate your schedule.
-Increases junior assignments.
Keep those in mind also when you get all happy about having an instant line.
You hit it exactly. Mesa is NOT staffed properly. I'm IAD based and very very senior. I CANNOT get the days off I want, need or earned. I'm glad for the newbies but there is a dark side the recruiters don't tell you. You will get an instant line. With 5 leg days which is great at first. But when you are junior assigned after 2 or 3 of those trips in a month I would love to see that excitement then for having a line. Anyone coming to IAD PM me I'll give you the scoop.
