30 former employees are getting calls today from the chief. Compass wants repayment for training costs from any pilot who did not complete 12 months of employment from end of training. They quoted me a bill of $8,000.
Actually our CBA allows for recoupment of training costs if you leave before 12 months. I don't remember the exact amount but it is prorated by the month.
Page 11-30 "17. Cost of Training
All new hire Pilots who are type rated pursuant to
subparagraph 11.V.16. above and subsequently resign
within twelve (12) months are responsible to reimburse the
Company for training costs associated with Pilot’s Initial
Training in the amount of twelve thousand dollars
($12,000.00). This amount will be prorated over the twelve
(12) months from completion of training at the rate of onetwelfth
(1/12) per month on payroll. A Pilot who resigns
following a Company announcement of a Pilot layoff which
(i) includes the Pilot, or (ii) the Pilot could reasonably
presume would include the Pilot, will not be required to
reimburse this cost."
