There are some isolated situations where soft landing might be an individuals only good option, but the majority have better options available.

Even with some skeletons you can get yourself into a LCC which will pay more by 3 years than Skywest even with soft landing starting you at 10 years on the pay scale.

The guys only 2 or less years from retirement would benefit the most from the massive sign on bonuses from other regionals.

I only see a small niche for the soft landing with the current demand for pilots.
