Update persistently
To reiterate what has been said in a slightly different way...
1. If you want a shot, send an updated resume once a month. Likely you are applying at several different places, keep updating those applications as well.
2. If you meet the minimums or are within a few hundred hours and updated resumes show you are on a vector to meeting them there's a better chance you'll get a call. Wide body international experience helps, but is not necessary. There were people with domestic only experience in our new hire class.
3. Kalitta's busiest season is November through January where all qualified crew members are being utilized, even instructors and check airmen. Frequency of interviews and classes may decrease during the busy season. There's another 747 new hire class that starts Oct 9th and is likely filled already, but last minute changes/emergencies could allow a person interviewing in the next couple of weeks to join that class if they are available. There are 767 classes that will continue through the holidays since they are being done by contract for now.
4. With the expansion of both fleets it is a great time to apply. Upgrades to the training department are happening regularly, several changes were coming down the pipe while I was in training.
