What they could have done is taken the extra sign on bonus they are giving to prior 121 guys and turn that into an upgrade bonus. Then they don't have to use that stupid provision for upgrades. Theyd get qualified FOs to upgrade and they would still bring prior 121 people over because they'd get the bonus pretty quick after joining since we have a 3 month upgrade. But instead of goodwill they doubled down on sign on bonus and created more animosity between the pilot group and management. I wonder how well this operation is going to run in a year when the brand new FOs are forced to upgrade and are flying with other brand new FOs.
