Same with day one. I have on several occasions parked at OAK, gotten a rental to somewhere nearby to either pick up an airline or hop on an airline, and and done several more legs without touching a pax leg.

Conversely, I know several who live in DAL, commute to SFO. They maybe stay in their crash pads 2 times a month and they can fly SWA or company to the bay area on like 20 daily flights. Several commute from Denver and don't even have crash pads. There are flights to and from DEN literally 24 hours a day on 4 different airlines. You just list on your flight, get on, ride the JS if you need to, and you get where you are going.

It was so much more stressful standing in line, with a group 6 middle seat, knowing your bag wouldn't get on without you checking it, only to know in the back of your mind that NetJets could pull you off on your stopover to have you do a trip, and you have no bag.

Is being home based easier than commuting from the middle of nowhere for a regional working 22 days a month? Abso-freaking-lutly. Living in base will always be easier in the airlines than commuting, but there are plenty of commutes that I would personally pick over NJA home basing.
Yes. Sir. I left home based NJA for a legacy gig. The commute is less painful than many of the company arranged travel days at NJA. No crash pad. Commutable trips. Jumpseat reserved a week out. Making more than NJA Capt pay in year 2. There are reasons to stay at NJA. I enjoyed my time there, but I'm sure glad I didn't let the fear of commuting keep me from leaving.
