In the past, it was common for turbo-prop people to get hired at majors because most or all of the regional fleet was turbo-props.

More recently they were mostly hiring RJ people, since they knew they could be trained on a glass jet.

Lately the pendulum has shifted back a bit. What I'm seeing know is a lot of people with both prop and jet time getting picked up (IIRC everybody in my interview and new hire groups had both). RJ time still means you can be trained on a glass jet, while prop time shows that you have (or had) some innate piloting skills. Some RJ drivers are just trained switch monkeys...
